WILMINGTON — Shari Lynn Mondary (Sanders), born December 16, 1962, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Leta Mae Reed (Marlow), passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones in Wilmington, NC September 26, 2026. Shari graduated from Shakamak High School in Jasonville, Indiana, where she excelled in basketball and made many wonderful memories and friendships.
Shari found joy in the simple things in life, family, friendship, laughter, the beach, and the people she loved. She spent much of her life caring for those around her, becoming a devoted mother and homemaker while also working various jobs, including as a gas station attendant. Her journey took her from Indiana to North Carolina, where she eventually made a home with her mother. She loved spending time with her friends, sharing a laugh, and enjoying the beach.
Family was always an important part of Shari’s heart. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was especially proud of her three grandchildren, Ezra, Mazie, and Oliver, who lovingly called her “Mimi.” She cherished them dearly, and they will forever carry the love, laughter, and memories they shared with her.
Shari also carried the memory of her daughter, Jessi Lee Robertson, who was born still. Though their time together was brief, Jessi was forever a part of Shari’s heart. Now, they are together again, a mother and daughter reunited at last. Shari was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Diana Mondary (Lynn).
Shari leaves behind her mother, Leta Mae, lovingly known to her grandchildren as “Grandma Mazie”; her two sons, Jeremy Robertson and Levi Sims; her three grandchildren, Ezra, Mazie, and Oliver; her brothers, John (Peggy) Mondary, Dale (Danette) Mondary, and Roy (James) Mondary; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Shari will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Her laughter, her stories, her love for her family, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will forever be Mimi, Mom, daughter, sister, and friend, lovingly remembered, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
