Above all, Jim’s heart belonged to his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Susan Hicks Bloodworth, with whom he built a lifetime of loving memories. He is also survived by his son, Roben Bloodworth; his daughter, Wendi Bloodworth; his cherished grandchildren, James, Matthew, John, Emily, and Jessica; his sister, Elizabeth “Bebe” Melvin; his brothers, Jessie W. “Buck” Bloodworth, Jr., Timothy “Robbie” Bloodworth (Bonnie), and William “Bill” Bloodworth (Madeleyn); his special brother, Jerry Groves; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever miss his gentle spirit and guidance.

A graveside service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Bloodworth Cemetery in Rocky Point, with Pastor James Demmel officiating.
