WILMINGTON — Sarah Gordon Kelly Little, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends on September 3, 2026
Sarah was Born January 25, 1948, to Leslie and Mary Gordon Kelly, Sarah graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1966 and retired from Southern Bell in 1997 after 31 years of loyal service.
Sarah lived a life rich in love, family, friendship, faith, and service. Those who knew her best described her beautifully: “Who knew that a cute little farm girl from Cornelius, N.C., would grow up to have a career, be a wife to the love of her life, loving mother, golfer, wedding director, exceptional bridge player, shag icon, volunteer and, when given a health challenge, would become a witness to everyone of what faith looks like.”
That sentiment captures Sarah perfectly. She embraced life fully and brought joy to the many people fortunate enough to know her.
Sarah’s strength and faith were especially evident during the challenges she faced later in life. She remained an example of courage, grace, and unwavering faith to her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Trent Little (Betsey) and Mark Little (Frederick); her siblings, Agnes Lowder, Colin Kelly (Myra), Virginia Dowdy, and sister-in-law Kay Little Ward; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sarah was preceded in death by her infant son, Jason; her husband of 57 years, Howard Emory Little Jr.; and her siblings, Harry Kelly and Martha Hager.
Sarah leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, service, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the many lives she touched.
A Celebration of Sarah’s Life will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the East End of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
