WILMINGTON — Francis “Fran” Elizabeth Pickler, peacefully stepped out for her final grand adventure on August 25th, 2026. Known for her impeccable style, infectious laugh, and unquenchable wanderlust, Fran lived a life that was as vibrant and beautifully curated as her legendary wardrobe.
Fran believed that every single day was an occasion worth dressing for. She was famously always “dressed to the nines,” turning even a simple walk to the mailbox into a high-fashion runway event. She believed that life was simply too short to wear boring clothes, and her bold, intentional outfits were a direct reflection of her joyful spirit. Wherever she went, she was effortlessly the most elegant woman in the room.
Her passport was a rich tapestry of stamps, and her closet a beautiful museum of global memories. Fran traveled the world with an open heart and an eye for beauty, exploring the markets of Paris, the coastlines of Italy, or the sunsets of the Carolina beaches. From every corner of the globe, she collected unique textiles, striking jewelry, lifelong friends, and unforgettable stories. She truly lived by the philosophy that travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
Above all, Fran loved her family and friends fiercely. She taught those around her to see the beauty in the world, to take bold risks, and to never, ever underestimate the power of a fabulous pair of shoes.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Fred Pickler, their daughter Tiffany and her husband David Rice, and Fred’s sisters Iris White, Arlene Mozingo, and Susan Malpass, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of curiosity and glamour. She was preceded in death by her mother Ellen Williams, her father George Williams, brother Ben and sister Terry.
A celebration of Fran’s beautiful life and worldly adventures will be held on September 3rd, 2026 at 1:00pm at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
In honor of her signature style, the family kindly requests that attendees bypass traditional funeral black and wear their most fashionable, colorful attire / wear a favorite statement accessory to send her off in true Fran fashion. The family will receive visitors and service lite hors d’ouerves after the service in the Church.
