WILMINGTON — Verneeda Tomika Lampkins Booker Moore was born on November 16, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late O’Larry Lampkins and Mattie Lampkins. She is the oldest daughter in a family of four.
Verneeda began her education in the St. Louis Public School system, Herzog Elementary and Ames Magnet (grades 6-8). Even at a young age, her confidence and vibrant personality shined brightly, leading her to attend Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in St. Louis from the ages of 11 to 12. After relocating to North Carolina, she graduated from South Brunswick High School in Boiling Springs Lake in 1987 and continued her education at Brunswick Community College, where she studied Cosmetology.
Verneeda returned to school and, from 2012 to 2014, attended Cape Fear Community College, where she earned a Hospitality Management Certificate. She built a successful career in the hospitality industry, dedicating more than a decade to hotel and private hospitality services. Her exceptional work ethic and leadership earned her a supervisory role, where she faithfully served until her ALS diagnosis in 2022.
One of the greatest joys of Verneeda’s life was her relationship with the Lord. She was baptized in 2014, a decision she cherished deeply. On September 26, 2018, she married the love of her life, William H. Moore.
Verneeda was preceded in death by her parents, O’Larry Lampkins and Mattie Lampkins, and her brother, Alfonza Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, William H. Moore; her children, Arcenia Mageo (Jason), Anthony Price, D’mitrius Booker, and Hariessa Moore; her six cherished grandchildren; her siblings, O’Larry Lampkins, Inna Lampkins, Byron Lampkins, Diedra Lampkins, and June Lampkins; her friend, Patty Sanchez; along with a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and her faithful companion, Buster.
Verneeda embraced life with authenticity. She loved dancing, watching Wheel of Fortune, enjoying Carolina barbecue, and keeping everything neat and organized. More than anything, she loved her husband, her children, and her family.
Verneeda learned and shared with others, “There is no room for should’ve, could’ve, or would’ve”.
