WILMINGTON — The warm baritone voice of Clif Harris fell silent after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, but his kindness, compassion and wisdom will long resonate in the hearts of his family and friends who loved him.
The lifelong musician died July 20, 2026, at home surrounded by family and remembered by friends stretching from the choir loft to the tennis court.
Born in Pasquotank County near Elizabeth City, N.C., Clif was the third of four siblings who shared life together in the small community of Newland. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Jordan Harris and Mary Willie Yelton Harris, as well as a brother, Joseph Jordan Harris Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lynnette Bingham Harris; daughter Dale Ainsley Harris Murchison (John Murchison) of Wilmington, and son Kelly Jordan Harris (fiancée Fallon Flaherty) of New York; as well as a sister, Catherine Harris Mudra, and a brother, Glenn Yelton Harris, both of whom live in Newland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be designated for the Winter Park Baptist Church Music Ministry, 4700 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC.
