WILMINGTON — Ann Heermann Chapman, 71, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 26 in Wilmington after a courageous journey with COPD.
Born on July 11, 1955, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Ann was the daughter of Anna Mae (Mumma) Heermann and the late Geary Price Heermann, who passed away in 2010.
Ann made Wilmington her home for the past 25 years, where she built a life filled with compassion, friendship, and service to others. She enjoyed a long and successful career with NOIA, splitting her time between Washington, D.C., and Wilmington. She was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and work ethic.
Those who knew Ann will remember her for her extraordinary kindness and generosity. She possessed a gentle spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her love for animals was one of her defining passions, and she found great joy in caring for them throughout her life. Ann’s warm heart, quiet strength, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved partner, James Chapman, in 2020, and by her father, Geary Price Heermann.
She is lovingly survived by her mother, Anna Mae Heermann; her two sisters, Beth Eubank (husband Tim) and Shawn Condran (husband Keith); as well as three nieces and three nephews, all of whom will cherish her memory and the love she shared throughout her life.
Private services will be held in Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, or to Paws Place Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 67, Winnabow, NC 28479, in honor of Ann’s lifelong love of animals.
Ann’s kindness, generosity, and love for both people and animals will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
