WILMINGTON — Lillian Brewer Pollock, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 92. Born on July 2, 1933, in Norfolk, Virginia, Lillian spent her life enjoying her family, her dogs, and supporting them all with unending love and affection.
Lillian’s journey was marked by her profound love for family but also her love for writing. Her literary works were a testament to her remarkable ability to see beauty and depth in the world around her. Through her poems and short stories, she shared her perspective with grace and eloquence, touching lives and sparking imaginations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Brookes Pollock, Sr., in November 2009, and her parents, Charles and Pearl Burton Brewer. Her enduring spirit lives on in those who survive her: her son, John Pollock, Jr.; her two daughters, Lynne Holloway (Greg Holloway) and Susan Beavis (David Beavis); her three grandchildren, Ryan Abdel-Megeid (Stacey), Ashley Beavis, and Sarah Bridges (Jacob); and her four great-grandchildren, George Bridges, Jackson Abdel-Megeid, Nolan Abdel-Megeid, and Sophie Lynne Abdel-Megeid.
Lillian had made North Carolina her home for over 60 years, having previously resided in Burlington before moving to Wilmington. Her presence in the community was a beacon of light, and her passing leaves a void felt deeply by all who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, in the chapel of Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, located at 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington, NC 28403. Lillian will be laid to rest at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr., Wilmington, NC 28409 at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026.
