WILMINGTON — Robert (Pete) Lee Murray, Jr., beloved Daddy, PawPaw, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2026, at the age of 69. He passed peacefully with his loving daughter Danielle and son-in-law, Justin holding his hands at his bedside.
Pete was born in Alamance County, NC on March 18, 1957, to Robert Lee Murray, Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Murray) Puryear.
Pete was predeceased by his father, his mother, his sister Vickie (Dunk) Adams, his brother Kenneth (Booger) Murray, and his sister Teressa (Sissy) Mauldin. He is survived by his daughter Danielle Mae Barbour (husband Justin), his granddaughter Paisley Mae Barbour and his grandson Foriest Lee Barbour; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pete was a painter by trade but later in life he enjoyed taking his boat out for fishing trips, tinkering on some kind of project and spending time with friends, which included his Friday night Poker games. Pete was always there to lend a hand or an ear when he was needed. He especially loved spoiling his grandchildren.
