WILMINGTON — Mark Monigle, 71, passed away peacefully on April 29th after an extended battle with cancer, surrounded by family in Wilmington, NC.
Mark was born to Allen Monigle and Beverly Monigle (Nelson) in Worcester, MA on October 9, 1954. He grew up in Danvers, MA with siblings Glen and Susan, making many lifelong friends along the way- a theme that held throughout the years.
He raised a family with his wife Diane Monigle (Coulombe) in nearby Beverly, MA and worked as a mechanic at Mass Electric/National Grid for 35 years. He helped raise two successful sons, Justin Monigle (Ipswich, MA) and Patrick Monigle (Houston, TX) and was a beloved grandfather to Anna Cotter and Hunter Monigle and father-in-law to Meg Monigle (Smith) and Amy Hiebert. Mark enjoyed golf, the Cape, and other travels during his New England years and was a tremendous resource for friends and family alike- always generous with his time and good for a laugh.
Mark and Diane retired to Hampstead, NC with their dog Fenway over a decade ago and, true to form, Mark settled right into the community, becoming a handyman at Olde Point Golf Club. a frequent on the course, and a friend to many in the neighborhood.
Mark lived a full life and enriched many others. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
