SOUTHPORT — Montefusco, Michael C., on April 19, 2026, of Southport, NC. Formerly of North Merrick, NY and Massapequa, NY. Loving husband of Eileen (née Handlon), married in 1970. Cherished father of Michael Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Jennifer O’Sullivan and her husband John. Beloved grandfather to Timothy, Steven and fiancée Ashley Herron, Shane, and Lauren O’Sullivan. Survived by his many caring nieces and nephews.
Mike and Eileen met and fell in love while attending Calhoun High School. They maintained lifelong friendships with an incredible and close-knit group of friends. Mike graduated from West Virginia University and devoted his career to public service, culminating in his role as Commissioner of Public Safety for the Town of Hempstead.
He cared deeply for his family and friends. He was always generous, willing to lend a hand, solve a problem, or offer thoughtful advice. The world is a better place because he was in it.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
