WILMINGTON — Thomas “Tom” Wayne Beer (81), of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in the early hours of April 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born with a generous heart and a quick wit, Tom lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. A retired Verizon employee, he was known for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and the way he could make anyone feel at ease with a well‑timed joke or warm smile. Tom loved to hunt and golf, spending many happy days outdoors.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Lidia Beer, who was his partner in every sense of the word. He leaves behind his two daughters, Sherry Lynn Gramling and Erica Genevieve Johns, and their husbands, who cherish him deeply. He is also survived by his siblings, Anne Lee Given and Richard Beer, along with his six grandchildren and five great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and Gale Beer, as well as his siblings James Beer and Edwin Beer.
Tom will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and steady presence in the lives of all who knew him. His humor, gentle soul, and quiet strength were gifts he shared freely. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds peace knowing he rests in God’s loving embrace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers, friends, and loved ones who supported Tom and his family in his final days.
