WILMINGTON — Donald George Dawson, 71, passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 9th, 1954 to Donald Freeman and Gloria Arata Dawson. He was lovingly raised by his father Donald Dawson and mother, Catherine Dawson. He also grew up surrounded by the love of his grandparents, William G. and Lillian Dawson.
Don was the true definition of a family man who always put his family before himself. He had a remarkable ability for fixing almost anything, whether it involved motor equipment, electrical work, or plumbing, he could figure it out and get the job done. He could always be found in his garage with his tools in hand. He took pride in his work and was always willing to lend his skills to family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lynn Dawson; sons: Phillip and Cory Dawson; daughter, Lori Dawson; sister, Donna Hall; brother-in-law Kenny Hall; and nieces: Kendall and Kristen Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Donald’s life. This was his most beloved charity.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
