HAMPSTEAD — Evelyn Poole Murphy passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 17,2026.
April 4, 2026, her birthday, she would have reached the age of 94.
She was born on April 4,1932 to Thomas and Annie Poole of Greenville, S.C., where she spent her early years, and met her husband Robert F. Murphy.
Robert joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejune in Jacksonville N.C. and made Sneads Ferry their home, where they raised 6 children. Evelyn was a homemaker while Murph proudly served in the USMC for 21 years.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Annie, her infant child Teresa Anne, four sisters Bernice, Audrey, Tommie and Bobbie Sue, her loving husband Robert of 51 years, grandson Zachary Rice.
She is survived by her six children Gloria Sue Nichols, Lottie Rice (Larry), Robert F. Murphy (Frances), Carolyn Guthrie (Roger), Connie Murphy and Dewayne Murphy; 10 Grand Children Michele, Lydia, April, Adrienne, Travis, Zack (deceased), Cortney, Robert, Ashley and Nathan;15 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great Great grandchildren
