HAMPSTEAD — Judy Lane (Woolard) Hannig, age 82, born in Washington, North Carolina and a longtime resident of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior at 1:31 pm on January 22, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that the family announces her passing, as she transitioned to eternal life, leaving behind treasured memories and a lasting legacy of faith and love. Her commitment to serving the Lord in churches and schools was an inspiration to many, reflecting a life devoted to compassion, service and unwavering devotion.
Judy was raised in a farming family of fifteen children, born to Onnie and Minnie (Moore) Woolard, who instilled in her the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family.
She graduated from Bath High School and found great joy in her work as a seamstress, a craft she lovingly shared with others. Her heart was also deeply rooted in cooking and gardening. She especially cherished Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays when her home was filled with family, warmth and fellowship; creating treasured memories and a sense of togetherness.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wolfdieter Hannig, Sr.; her beloved two sons, Tony Hannig (engaged to Holly) and father to Shaun and Shannon (and their mother, Renee); Wolfdieter Hanning, Jr. (married to Dawn) and father to Trey (Kasey), Ryan (Valerie), and A.J. (and their mother Donna); step granddaughter, Ivy Baugher; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Rowan, Hadley and Margy (parents Trey & Kasey); and Harper and Noa (parents Ryan and Valerie).
Visitation will be held at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel located at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, 17750 Hwy 17 N, Hampstead, North Carolina 28443. The service will be officiated by their Pastor David Hildebrand of Victory Baptist Church, Holly Ridge, NC.
If you would rather donate to a charity in her memory instead of sending flowers, please donate to one of your choice or the family would suggest PrisonFellowship.org. Your gift enables Prison Fellowship and our church partners to share the Gospel with prisoners, ex-prisoners and their children, and to advocate for second chances. Lives are changed, families are reunited and God is glorified. What a great investment!
As family and friends lament her earthly loss, they find solace in God’s promise of a future reunion, where joy and peace will abound. Her life of faithful services leaves a testimony that will endure, and her faith is now made sight as she rests in perfect peace.
