WILMINGTON — A lifetime of warm memories and a trail of broken hearts were left behind December 27, 2025 when Vawanda Faye Estabrook, affectionately known as Tutu, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family; she was 88.
A hairstylist by trade and a mother to the core, she loved most to be with her family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, playing games, sewing, and shopping. She was a classic southern bell! Happy by nature, her warmth and kindness extended to everyone. Her smile and delightful laughter will always be remembered.
Born in Richlands, NC to Jack and Lindy Brinson, she was the 7th of 10 children. She is survived by her sisters, Edna Godwin, Lois Nieghberger and brother Terry Brinson, wife, Becky Brinson.
She was a blessing to her children, Vanessa Plotner, husband Stan, and Lessa Estabrook. Her grandchildren Dustin Estabrook (her best friend), Brennan Plotner, wife Alex, Kara Kelley, husband Jonathan, and her three adored great-grandchildren, Reggie, Sloane and Cosmo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Estabrook and beloved son, Mark. We have no doubt they lit up when she walked through heaven’s gates with open arms and resounding laughter.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28412. Prior to the service the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
