WILMINGTON — Peggy Terry Murray, 76, of Wilmington, NC, died peacefully at Spring Arbor Memory Care Cottage on December 21, 2025.

Peggy was born in Hamlet, NC on June 28,1949, the daughter of Lloyd Lester and Viola Lambert Terry, deceased. She attended public schools, graduated from Hamlet High School in 1967 and attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC. Peggy was employed by First Union National Bank and the Robeson County Health Department in Lumberton, NC where she resided for many years while working and raising a family.

Peggy truly loved life, her Lord and Savior, her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. Peggy enjoyed participating in church activities, gardening, traveling, dancing and teaching both “shag” and Line dancing. She was most happy when entertaining family and friends. Peggy was an excellent cook and hostess and those activities brought a special sparkle to her smile and joy to those in her presence.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Doug; her children, Scott McLaurin (Shannon), Kelly McLaurin Wooddell (Holt), and Matthew “Matt” McLaurin (Lindsey); her stepchildren, John Murray (Lisa) and Jim Murray (April); grandchildren, Jordan McLaurin, Colin McLaurin, Miller and Lainey Wooddell and Step-grandsons, McNair and John G. Murray. Peggy is survived by sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Terry Jones and Pamela “Pam” Terry Crabb (Jay). She was preceded in death by sisters, Glenda Terry Aycoth, Deborah “Debbi” Terry Baker and a brother, Lloyd Lester Terry, Jr.

A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will occur on Saturday, January 3, at Pine Valley Methodist Church located at 3788 Shipyard Blvd, in Wilmington. Service at 11:00 am preceded by visitation commencing at 10:00 am, Lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall at the close of the service with interment to follow at 1:00 pm at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr., Wilmington.

A most special thanks to the staff at Peggy’s Memory Care Home (The Cottage) located in the Spring Arbor of Wilmington assisted living and memory care facility and to Lower Cape Fear Life Care’s Memory Partners and Hospice teams who together rendered professional compassionate care and guidance to Peggy and her family providing to her the best quality of life possible under the conditions with which they and Peggy dealt by virtue of her Alzheimer’s disease.

Memorials may be made to the charities of your choice. We would hope that Alzheimer’s Association, Lower Cape Fear Life Center and Pine Valley Methodist Church “Make Room Fund” might be among them.
