HAMPSTEAD — David Larry Troutman, 77, of Hampstead, NC, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice Center.
Larry was born July 8, 1948 in Columbia, SC, son of the late David Linel Troutman and Marjie Derrick Troutman.
He was the Scout Master for Troop 366 at Bethel Lutheran Church where he was a member for many years before joining St Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 612 College Rd, Wilmington, NC. He, himself, was very accomplished in the Boy Scouts of America, obtaining awards at the level of Eagle Scout, Pro Deo et Patria (For God and Country; the highest Lutheran Boy Scouts award), and a member of the Order of the Arrow honor society.
Larry volunteered with the Pender County Humane Society for 25 years, was a Committee Member of the Wilmington Fur Ball, a Master Mason with Lodge Boyleston 123, Ballentine, SC.
His hobbies were gardening, fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Sellers Troutman; brother, Bruce Troutman; son, David Troutman and daughter-in-law, Kathleen O’Malley; and granddaughters, Grace Troutman and Anna Mae Troutman.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Sam Zumwalt officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour. There will be light refreshments during that time. Entombment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 306 Bradley Dr, Wilmington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Pender County Humane Society, or Wilmington Fur Ball.
