DeAnna Louise Schifko Strickland, 82

WILMINGTON — DeAnna Louise Schifko Strickland passed into Eternal Life on November 4, 2025.

DeAnna was born July 23, 1943, the daughter of Elmer (Moot) and Julia Schifko of Rices Landing, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Husband (IB) Ivey B. Strickland, 2 brothers Elmer (Bud) Schifko and Lawrence (Larry) Schifko, and nephew William (Bill) L. Schifko.

She leaves behind a son, James (Jim) W. Fogleman and wife Deborah (Debbie) Fogleman. She has 2 sisters-in-law, Earlene Schifko and Linda Schifko, a stepson Robert (Rob) G. Strickland and wife Carolin Strickland, a stepdaughter Kimberly (Kim) Bowyer and husband Scott Bowyer, her grandchildren Joseph (Joe) Hunt, Matthew (Matt) Strickland and wife Brandy Strickland, Brittney Platte and fiancée Kasi, and Chandler Platte. Her great grandchildren, Bella Strickland, Tucker Meyers, Linley and Rosie Jeffers. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families whom she deeply loved. Life-long friends Shirley Kalich, Jackie Horvath, Margaret (Margo) Chestnut were especially dear to her.

DeAnna was a devout member of St. Paul’s ELCA Lutheran Church, in Wilmington, NC. She enjoyed singing in the choir and engaging in church activities.

DeAnna greatly loved her immediate and extended family with all of her heart.

She had a great number of friends. These people meant more to her than words can express. She was a very avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the proud daughter of her Dad who was a South-West Pennsylvania (SWPA) coal miner.

Thank you to the nursing staff of Brunswick Cove Living Center as well as to the nurses and staff of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, who were such a great support to DeAnna and her family during her last days.
