LELAND — Leslie Jean Hartley, 73, of Watertown, MA passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on June 10, 1952 in Watertown, MA. Leslie was the daughter of the late Robert and Arlene Durkin. From an early age, she embodied compassion and kindness—qualities that defined both her personal and professional life.
She and her husband, Robert Hartley, shared 49 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and family. They made their home in Canton MA and moved to Leland, NC in 2013 where they retired.
One of Leslie’s greatest joys was spending time with family, friends. She loved admiring flowers, golfing, sewing, watching for cardinals, horseback riding, caring for her dogs, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Above all she cherished every moment she got to spend with her beloved granddaughter, Mackenzie.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Hartley, their children, Jonathan and wife Ruthie, and their child Mackenzie; Gregory and partner Kim. She also leaves behind her sisters, Marcia Claire Close and Pauline Durkin Malvey. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, November 14, 2025 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel led by Rev. Adam Mew. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington.
