SURF CITY — Christopher Ray Welch, 64, of Surf City, NC passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, after bravely enduring a three-year journey with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was the beloved son of William (Bill) and Clara Welch of Mount Airy, NC.
Chris was a lifelong lover of all things Mickey Mouse and Christmas. Known as the life of every gathering, he was always the one people could count on for a laugh or a helping hand. His kindness, humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew him — because of him, our hearts are gentler.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, William, and brother Michael Welch.
Chris is survived and missed by his loving wife Marianne Welch; and his children Dawn Helak (Brian), Nathalie Gibbs (Ethan), and Jonathon Welch; and cherished grandchildren Ash, Aubree, Saydee, William, Charlotte, Matthew, and Liam; his mother, Clara; his siblings Stephen Welch (Nancy) and Jeanna Welch (Joseph); and many dear friends and extended family members.
Details for a celebration of life will be shared by the family at a later date.
