WILMINGTON — Eunice “Marie” Hamm, 85, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
She was born on March 27, 1940, in Wilmington, to the late Herbert Joseph Hazard and the late Verbee Jones Hazard.
Marie attended Church of God and was a long-time member of Spring View Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Marie was a loving and caring person who deeply loved people and cherished her family. She had a passion for working in her garden and tending to her flowers, tomato plants, and she adored cats. Marie found joy in the simple things in life and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Marie is survived by her sons, Joseph Marino and wife, Celina, James “Butch” Shepherd and partner, William Owen Jr; daughters, Debbie Lanagan, Verbee Sealey and husband, Richard; step daughters, Linda, Judy, Wanda; grandchildren, Courtney Marino Simonson and husband, Kevin; Kaitlyn Lanagan and partner, Robert Garmany, Anthony McCallum, Eric J. Faucette; great grandchildren, Scarlett Simonson, Jackson Simonson, Isla Grace Garmany, Hailey Faucette, and husband Chase Sappito, Hannah Marie Faucette, Faith Marie Faucette; great great grandchild, Kasien Faucette; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dewina “K”, a devoted caregiver, cherished friend, and true angel in Marie’s life. Her love, compassion, and unwavering support meant the world to Marie and will never be forgotten.
In addition to her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Hamm; her brother, Jerry Hazard.
