OAK ISLAND — Rev. Frederick E. Roberts, age 73, of Oak Island, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Pastor Fred was born May 12, 1952, in Durham, North Carolina son of the late Henry S. “Pat” Roberts, Jr. and Anne Houle Roberts. He was a retired minister in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pastor Fred served 40 years in various locations throughout the eastern part of North Carolina. He graduated from Washington and Lee University and Duke Divinity School. He will be remembered for his hardy laugh, all the many smiles and his crushing bear hugs.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betsy Brodie Roberts; three sons, James (AJ), of Orlando, Florida, Joseph (Aimee) of Avondale Estates, Georgia and Benjamin (Cortney) of Washington, DC; two grandsons, George B. and Henry C. Roberts; and a brother, Henry “Hank” Roberts, III (Robin) of Berkley, California.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Ocean View United Methodist Church 8400 E. Oak Island Drive, Oak Island, NC 28465.
A second service will be held at 2 pm on July 27th at Bethlehem United Methodist Church 2216 NC-43, Warrenton, NC 27589.
