WILMINGTON — Anna “Michelle” Long, 54, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on April 1, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 25, 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Michelle was known and loved for her fiery personality and unwavering passion for serving others. God led Michelle to become a nurse, a role she embraced for two years before her diagnosis. Working at The Davis Community in Porters Neck with her residents brought her immense purpose and fulfillment.
Above all, Michelle’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. She adored her daughter, Abigail Long, and the bond they shared was nothing short of extraordinary. Michelle cherished every moment spent with Abigail.
She is survived by her daughter, Abigail Long; her beloved mother, Dianne Stansbury of Wilmington; her father, Paul Stansbury, of Pasco WA; her brother, John Stansbury (Anne-Marie) and niece Lynn Elliot and nephew William Elliot of Raleigh. Michelle’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her legacy of love, strength, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of being part of her life.
Michelle will be dearly missed, but her spirit and the love she poured to others will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on April 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Michelle’s honor.
