WILMINGTON — It is with deep sorrow we announce Tiago Granville Bland slipped out of the bonds of earthly existence on March 31st, 2025 on a beautiful spring day. He was born April 25th, 1996 in Wilmington.
Tiago was a beautiful, sweet boy who loved everything to do with food, cooking and nature. He graduated from University of North Carolina-Wilmington with a BA in Biology, despite the challenging changes in his mind that began to manifest during this time. He was a very intelligent, smart young man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a kind hearted and supportive person to everyone who knew him. He loved his dog Koba and he loved being outdoors and dreamed of being a farmer.
Tiago was a fighter and he tried every avenue to quieten the insidious growing force in his mind. There are no words to express the hole in our hearts.
A message to Tiago from his mother..” My brave boy! How much pain you endured without uttering a word about it. Was it to spare your mother from suffering? I suffered with you every single day with a smile to cheer you on but deep inside knew you would not compromise all your dreams from being taken so abruptly from you. My love, my angel, everything good was in you. Your proud mamae.”
Tiago is survived by his brother Gabriel Bland; his mother, Mariangela Barbosa and her husband Robert Clements; his father, Dr. Donald S.
