SNEADS FERRY — William Michael Fletcher, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, at the age of 69. Born on January 16, 1956, in Moultrie, Georgia, Mike lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Mike grew up in Lake Wales Florida where he graduated from Lake Wales High School and was a proud lifelong Highlander. After high school, he went on to graduate from the University of Florida. He returned to Lake Wales to teach Math at LWHS and later taught at Winter Haven High School. Later, he transitioned to a successful career as a car sales/finance manager for various dealerships, including 13 years at Greenwood Chevrolet in Fort Meade FL. In 2018 Mike and his wife relocated to their Happy Place on North Topsail Beach.

An avid fan of all sports, Mike was especially fond of the Florida Gators and the Tampa Bay Bucs. His passion for travel took him and his wife, Linda, to countless destinations, always seeking new adventures and experiences. He not only loved cars but also driving. Whether it was a Sunday afternoon exploring the countryside or a 5-week cross-country trip, he loved taking the most scenic route. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the ones that called him Papa.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Linda Faye Fletcher, whom he lovingly called his “princess;” his mother, Delama L. Fletcher of Lake Wales FL, his devoted daughters: Amber Rhyne and her husband, Kevin of Iron Station, NC, Heidi Starr and her husband, Nick, of Spotsylvania, VA and Samantha Muse and her husband, James, of Leland, NC. Grandchildren: Gavin Rhyne, Georgia Muse, Jack Starr, Harrison Muse, Chandler Muse, Maxton Starr and Richard “Archie” Starr.

He is also survived by his sister, Melanie Fletcher; sister-in-law, Debbi Wine Fletcher; nephews, William Fletcher and Christopher Fletcher and his wife Brooke; and great-niece Lillian Fletcher, all of Lake Wales, FL.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Bill Fletcher and his brother, Mitchell Fletcher.

His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Liberty Hospice, First Light Home Care and special caregiver, Megan Mucha for their compassionate care and support.

Services to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at a later date, back home in Lake Wales, FL where he grew up.
