Ed joined the U.S. Navy before he met and married the love of his life, Susan in 1960. They continued their education and Ed graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Business Administration. They moved to Peoria, Illinois for his job with Caterpillar Tractor and it was here that they welcomed their first child, Elizabeth Ann. Ed realized his true mission and moved his family to Harrisonburg, Virginia to oversee his first Chamber of Commerce. In Harrisonburg, they welcomed their second child, David Kavanaugh Seidel and their family was complete.
Ed was called to be the Executive Vice President of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce in 1971 and it was in Towson, Maryland that they stayed and called their home for the next 29 years. Ed worked with and grew the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed making a difference in the county, one of the highlights was being a lobbyist for the chamber. After he retired from the chamber, he spent his last career years working for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration working in both public relations and the management of customer service.
After his full retirement in 1996 he filled his time with family, friends and playing lots of golf. In 2000, Ed and Susan moved to Sunset Beach, North Carolina to enjoy their retirement with golf and travel. Many years were spent with family and friends enjoying their newfound “hometown”. They both had a passion for golf and they were able to have such happy times following their passion at their new home on the golf course and on their many travel adventures. They also became active members of Seaside Methodist where they made many dear friends and strengthened their spirituality.
Susan and Ed moved to Porters Neck Village and loved every minute of it. Ed was active in the resident council and the finance committee serving in leadership positions through his years. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of the residents and staff at Porters Neck Village for their friendship and caring over the years. The community enriched Ed and Susan’s lives immeasurably.
