OCEAN ISLE BEACH — James “Jim” Francis Roberts, 76, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.
He was born on October 4, 1948, in Granite City, Illinois, to the late Sidney Earnest Roberts and the late Mary Parker Roberts. He completed his secondary education at Fayetteville High School and subsequently obtained an associate’s degree from Fayetteville Community College. Following his academic pursuits, he embarked on a career in banking, ultimately retiring as a Senior Vice President after dedicating 33 years to First Citizens Bank.
After retiring, he took pleasure in utilizing his extensive collection of tools to establish a local handyman business. Furthermore, he was an active member of the Rotary Club. Jim found joy in golfing, tending to his yard, and shag dancing.
Jim was an active member of the O.D. Church of The Lost and Found in North Myrtle Beach. He was a passionate Christian who took great pleasure in offering his time to volunteer at the church.
Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth Baker Roberts; his son, John Michael Roberts and wife, Deborah; his daughter, Katherine Roberts Harrell and husband, Matt; his brother, Sidney Earnest Roberts and wife, Martha; his grandchildren, Katie Harrell, Emily Harrell, Ethan Harrell; his nieces, Rebecca Tilley (Jay) and Sydney Navy (Chris); Paige Baker Simpson; and his beloved dog, Bella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to the O.D. Church of the Lost and Found in North Myrtle Beach or to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare of Wilmington.
Entombment will be private at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pine Valley Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
