WILMINGTON — Andrea Jill (Williams) Smith, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, in Wilmington, NC. Andrea was born on June 13, 1942, in Ft. Pierce, FL, to the late Mahlon Pierce Williams and Mary Blanche (Gray) Williams.
Throughout her life, Andrea was devoted to her family and community. As a dedicated homemaker and school cafeteria worker for many years, she touched the lives of many with her kindness and warm spirit. Her love for her family, especially her great-grandchildren, was evident in everything she did.
Andrea had a lifelong passion for cross-stitching and word searches, through which she found joy and relaxation. Her fondness for animals, particularly her beloved cats, brought her endless happiness.
A faithful member of the United Methodist Church, Andrea was deeply involved in the United Methodist Women, where she served as president. Her dedication to her church community was a testament to her generous spirit and unwavering faith.
In her younger years, Andrea enjoyed the simple pleasure of pier fishing, a pastime that connected her to nature and brought her peace.
Andrea is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Smith; her parents, Mahlon Pierce Williams and Mary Blanche (Gray) Williams; and her brother, Mahlon Pierce Williams, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Charles Smith, Jr. and wife Michelle, and Katherine McVey; her grandchildren Andrea, Sara Jayne and husband Kyle, Sabrina and husband Zac, Amy Jo and husband John, Nicholas and wife Brittany; and many cherished nephews and great-grandchildren.
Services for Andrea will be private, honoring her wishes and allowing family to celebrate her life in an intimate setting.
Andrea will be remembered for her loving heart, her dedication to family and faith, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
