WILMINGTON — Barbara Jane (Barker) Gupton, age 79, passed away on January 21, 2025. She was born on April 3,1945, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Minnie (Pendarvis) Davis and John Thomas Barker.
Barbara was cherished by her family and friends and took great pride in her role as a grandmother of five. She was lovingly known as “Nannie”.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Gupton of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren, Kylee Brown and Kaden Brown; daughter, Kim (Gupton) Garnette and her husband James; grandchildren, JP Garnette and Connor Garnette; son, Chris Gupton; granddaughter, Casey Gupton all of Wilmington, NC.
Barbara had a deep love for her family and enjoyed spending time at the beach, where many happy memories were made. She held a special belief that cardinals were the spirits of departed loved ones watching over us. Her family encourages everyone to think of her each time they spot a cardinal.
A celebration of life for Barbara will be held in Wilmington, NC, at a later date. Cards may be sent in care of the family to 4521 Sioux Street, Council Bluffs, IA, 51501. Barbara’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
