WILMINGTON — It is with sadness and grief that the family of Dr. Donald Taliaferro Pole announces his recent passing.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice.
Don and Janice lived a wonderful and adventurous life, traveling to many parts of the world. Those who traveled with them and knew them as friends remember a couple full of life and fun. They spoke so often of their friends and especially their friends in Cashiers who supported them so much in Janice’s illness. When Janice lost her battle with glioblastoma, Don never stopped mourning her.
Don was also preceded in death by his father Samuel Boyce Pole Ill, his mother Edith Taliaferro Pole, and their beloved great nephew Kyle Scott Anderson.
Don leaves behind a brother Samuel Pole and wife Joyce, son Joshua Pole, grandchildren Isabel Lee and Caleb Pole, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia and George Rountree, nieces and nephews Val and Scott Anderson, Gina and Herb McKim, Cindy and Kevin Wiseman, Tania and Brian Higgins; cherished great-nieces and nephews Courtney and Gage, Brittany and Brad, Taylor and Gabrielle, Kelsey, Michael and Melody, Elizabeth, Emma, Sophie, Samantha, Pearson, Nell and Theodore.
To honor Don’s wishes, there will not be a public service.
The family requests that remembrances be made to support Lower Cape Fear LifeCare at lifecare.org or to the charity of your choice.
