WILMINGTON — James Raymond Gallagher, a native of Beacon, NY, and long-time resident of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, at the age of 65.
Jim was born in Beacon, NY, on October 29, 1959, son of the late James and Ruth (Johnson) Gallagher. He attended
St. John the Evangelist grade school in Beacon and was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Jim is survived by his children, Ryan and Erin Gallagher of Wilmington, NC, sisters Linda Manto and husband Joseph of Bay Shore, NY and Karen Kreppein and husband Robert of Fort Lauderdale, FL, brother Robert of Beacon, NY, nephew Brendan McLaughlin of Conshohocken, PA, and former spouse Cynthia (Schrader) Gallagher of Wilmington, NC.
Jim was an avid New York sports fan, always discussing and devotedly cheering on the NY Giants, Mets and Knicks, as well as Notre Dame football and basketball, with his son and nephew. He was thrilled to have attended Minnesota Super Bowl XXVI and San Diego Super Bowl XXXII.
His greatest joy was taking his children to the beach, digging holes in the sand, and waiting for the tide to come in.
The family will privately celebrate Jim’s life.
