OAK ISLAND — Gary Eugene Wilcox, age 74, of Oak Island, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Mr. Wilcox was born February 18, 1950 in Saratoga Springs, NY, son of the late Edward and Veronica Wilcox.
Gary was a veteran of the US Army. He had worked in the school system in New York and at Southport Elementary School for many years. He loved children of all ages, animals, especially rescue Greyhounds, fishing, and all kinds of music.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne Wilcox; a beloved son, Adam Wilcox.
Survivors include his son, Shaun Wilcox and wife Kim; a grandson, Mason Wilcox Jackson; a sister, Debbie Wilcox Gailor; sister-in-law, Suzanne Dunkle and husband John; brother-in-law, John O’Connor; nieces, Haven Fyfe-Kiernan, Nora Jablonski; and nephews, Ezra Dunkle-Polier, and Gary “The Whip” Wilcox.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice at 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia NC 28422.
