ROCKY POINT — Gary Edward Tyler, 66, of Rocky Point, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Corning, New York, on September 28, 1958, to the late Waldo and Betty (Groves) Tyler.
Gary was an avid deer hunter who taught his grandson how to hunt. He was a hardworking man who loved his family. Gary was well known by many people and “left good tracks wherever he went”. He was a wonderful father who raised his two girls by himself. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Manda Ochoa-Rivas, Melissa Tyler; brothers, James Tyler, Gerald Tyler and wife, Robin, Kenneth Tyler and wife, Cindy; sisters, Joyce Schuler and husband, George, Shirley Lechnowsky and husband, Walter; grandchildren, Shakira Tyler and husband, Brandon Flores, Luciana Tellez-Tyler and husband, Alex Hernandez, Damian Tyler, Maribel Ramirez-Tyler, Gary Joseph Tyler Wallace, Jeremiah Tyler Wallace, Jordan Tyler Wallace; great grandchildren, Armando Rivas, Alejandro Elizarraraz-Tellez, Anissa Wallace; his best friend, Scott Oxendine; and a host of other family members and friends.
In addition his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tyler; and his brother, Lewis Tyler.
