WILMINGTON — Mary Louise Woodcock was called home to her Heavenly Dwelling Place at age 97.
Born October 10th, 1927, to parents, Okey Newkirk and Fannie M. Sneeden Benson, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death is her beloved husband of 52 years, Frederick Herbert Woodcock Jr., son, Frederick Alan Woodcock, four brothers, Douglas Newkirk, Robert Stephen, Oliver Lewis and Vernon Gray Benson, one still born sister she had not met until now, two great grandchildren, DJ Culbertson and Danielle Bergeron, and one great great grandson, Jason Nwokolo.
Surviving is her son, Donald E. Woodcock, of Ingold, NC, daughter, Frances W. Bliss of Holly Ridge, NC, daughter-in-law, Christine McGal Branch Woodcock, of Fayetteville, NC, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren.
Mary grew up a Native Wilmingtonian and a resident of the Seagate Community, surrounded by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In the late 50’s, she and her family relocated to the Winter Park area. After the loss of her husband, she got her own apartment at University Place and was there for 21 years. In her apartment community she was surrounded by many wonderful friends that always looked out for one another and were very active in walking, bible study, crafts and seasonal gatherings.
Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, granny and friend.
