WILMINGTON — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marcel Branch, who departed this life on October 3, 2024. Born on January 8, 1970, Marcel lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for family and friends.

Marcel exhibited a thirst for knowledge and modeled the wonder of knowing. He eagerly studied, earning two Master’s degrees. A lifelong learner, Marcel’s journey was an example of a pursuit of growth. He was devoted to self-improvement, seeking knowledge by reading, listening, counseling, creating, attending meetings, and church. He would try most any experience. He worked hard and gave to his community by serving on the boards of non-profit organizations, and delivering dynamic speeches for fundraising purposes.

He is survived by his mother,Sedell, wife, Kristine, children Marcel II, Mone, and Makai; grandchildren Maliyah and Messiah, sister LaKesha, niece Avry, nephews Aidyn and Sumner, loving aunts, uncle and so many cousins.

Marcel was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Branch.

There will be two gatherings to celebrate Marcel’s life. If you feel so moved, please plan to share a story of your time with Marcel. The east coast celebration will be held on November 10, 2024, 2:00 pm at Roland Grise Middle School, Wilmington, NC. The west coast celebration will be January 4, 2025 in San Diego, CA, location to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marcel’s honor to The Healing Place of New Hanover County, a cause close to his heart.

His memory will live on through the stories and moments he shared with each of us.

As Marcel prioritized finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same – go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you. Some of his favorite activities…
