WILMINGTON — Peggy Batts Yopp, a loving wife, mother, and nana entered into the presence of her beloved Lord and Savior on Friday, October 18, 2024, with her husband by her side. A native of Pender County, NC, she was the daughter of Hugh and Lucille Batts who preceded her in death.
Peggy was a wonderful wife to her husband, Billy, a devoted mother and nana to her children and grandchildren, and a faithful friend to those around her. She was also a skilled accountant who used her gifts and intellect to serve the church body and community.
She loved traveling and cruising with Billy, expressing her affection to others through handmade gifts, and enjoyed beautiful music and lavish Christmas celebrations.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, William Vincent Yopp, her children, Ashley Poteat (Jeffrey), Jared Batson (Lauren), Tyler Yopp, Brenna Yopp, and Trey Yopp, her 16 grandchildren, siblings, Richard Batts (Carol) and Debbie Edens (Steve), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also dearly loved by her husband’s family, the Yopp family, who have shown faithful support and will greatly mourn her passing.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Scotts Hill Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC, with Pastor Phil Ortego, Pastor Jeffrey Poteat, and Pastor Jimmie Suggs presiding. A graveside burial service will follow at the Batts Family Cemetery: 1417 Mill Creek Road, Hampstead, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
