WIMINGTON — We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Benjamin R. Levy on the loss of their beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Ben died today, Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 10:48 am. Dr. Levy was preceded in death by Linda Royce Levy, his “Woman, his Woman, his Wife.” Dr. Levy and Linda took up residence in Wilmington in 2003 and quickly acclimated to their lovely surroundings, making many friends and acquaintances. Ben truly loved the congregations at B’nai Israel Synagogue and Chabad. He loved them so much he accepted a position as president of B’nai Israel and happily served multiple terms. Linda also contributed her talent by becoming principal of their inaugural Jewish pre-k program to promote membership at the Synagogue and to provide a valuable education for the children of all denominations in our community.
Ben is survived by his son, Dr. Mitchell Levy (Dana Levy nee Moelis), his daughter, Helayne Levy Payne (Wayne James Payne), his grandchildren, Dr. Eric Levy (Tome Levy nee Elyaguov), Alex Levy (Alana Levy nee Summers), Kyle Levy, Aaron Goldman, Samantha Goldman and great-grandchildren, Hudson, Saige and Jonah.
Ben was a retired dentist, an avid boater, railroad enthusiast and, his most cherished role of all, husband to Linda. Ben died on his own terms at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington with his family at his bedside.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare located at 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 will be greatly appreciated.
