Matthew Logan Crafford, 41

Matthew Logan Crafford (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Matthew Logan Crafford, 41 years of age, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Sunday September 1, 2024.

Matt was born July 19, 1983, to Dr. William Ashton Crafford Jr. and Christine Ann Crafford in Cleveland, OH. He grew up in Wilmington and graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 2002. He went on to study finance and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

From Wilmington, he moved to Washington DC to start his accounting career. There he met the mother of his children, Cameron Coffey, also of Wilmington. They went on to have a son, Max and daughter, Blake who were the pride and joy of Matt’s life.

An avid golfer, Matt enjoyed spending time on the links, especially after moving back to Wilmington shortly following the birth of his first child. Matt was an Eagle Scout who treasured his time spent in scouting and passing along those experiences to his son Max – even if he never could quite manage to keep the wheels on a pinewood derby car. He valued his friendships and reflected fondly on his high school experiences playing soccer and surfing.

Known for his infectious laugh, dance floor moves and compassion for furry four-legged friends, Matt was at his core a kind and welcoming man who loved his family. Matt’s departure leaves a void in the lives of his family members and countless others who knew him, but they take comfort in his memory and the love they shared.

Matthew was preceded in death by his Grandparents Thomas and Dorthy Dighero, William and Frances Crafford, Uncle Louis Dighero, and fur siblings Cassie, Harley, Foster, Mao, Chou, She- Ra, Rusty, Tucker, and AG. He is survived by his children, Max (8) and Blake (3); his parents, Bill and Chris Crafford; his brothers, Billy (Ingrid), Chad (Hannah), and Drew (Brittany); and the mother of his children, Cameron Crafford; and is a loved nephew, cousin and uncle.

Services will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403 on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. A eulogy and reception will immediately follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to, Boy Scouts of America, New Hanover County, North Carolina or YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina.
