KURE BEACH — In a world that seemed to spin a little more smoothly with her in it, Sherry Lynn Hudson of Kure Beach, NC, gracefully took her final bow on August 26, 2024, at the age of 67. Born in the charming town of Hickory, NC, on May 29, 1957, Sherry spent her life mastering the art of raising her four children—a title she wore with pride and humor.
Sherry’s life was filled with love, laughter, and the occasional eye roll. She was the beloved mother of the late Clint Hudson, who no doubt greeted her with open arms in the great beyond. Also preceding her were her parents David Ray Leatherman, Shirley Ruth Woody Leatherman and sister LaGena Murphy, who are undoubtedly holding the fort until the rest of us get there.
She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and wit through her surviving children: son Jason Hudson and his wife Madison; daughters Shanna Hudson and her husband Mike Ritchie; and Sonya Cummings and her husband Jason. Her grandchildren—Na’Lia, Jayda, Mea, and Hunter—will forever cherish their memories of NaNa who was as sharp-tongued as she was loving. Also surviving are sisters Lisa Barnes and Kim Leatherman.
And let’s not forget K-9 Storm, her loyal companion who now faces the Herculean task of filling Sherry’s shoes—a feat even the bravest of dogs might find daunting.
A private service will be planned in the near future, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Sherry’s life in true Hudson fashion. Until then, let’s all raise our glasses to Sherry Lynn Hudson, a woman whose presence made the world a better, sassier place.
