ROCKY POINT — Courtney Register Mong of Rocky Point, NC age 46 passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 31, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, after a long, brave battle with breast cancer.
She is survived by her husband Donny Mong; daughter Abigail Mong; parents Sam Register and Carol Register; brother Guy Guthrie; nephew Tanner Guthrie; and niece Madison Guthrie.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Hubert and Wilma Pate; paternal grandparents Robert and Effie Register; her two uncles Jerry Pate and Bob Register; and her two step-mothers Lindsay Register and Katie Register.
Courtney was born January 10, 1978, in New Bern, NC to Sam and Carol Register. She graduated from New Bern High School in 1996 after which she attended Meredith College where she earned a Bachelor of arts in Music and speech. Courtney pursued her music working for Disney World before returning to NC. She and Donny owned and operated Andy’s Burgers Shakes and Fries restaurant in Castle Hayne for 7 years. Most recently she worked with the Sales team of HMF Express in Wilmington, NC.
Courtney married the love of her life Donny, also of New Bern, on October 2, 2004. On October 31, 2009 she introduced to the world her pride and joy, daughter Abigail.
Courtney lived a life full of passion, love and faith that were reflected in every aspect of her being. She was fiercely devoted to her husband Donny and her beautiful daughter Abigail, who loved her and supported her in all things. Her true passion was serving the Lord through leading worship with the Praise team at Wrightsboro Baptist Church. She loved to travel (Disney being her favorite destination) with the mountains and beaches luring her away occasionally, but her true happy place was at home with Donny and Abigail sitting on the porch in the summertime, talking or enjoying a nice fire in the wintertime while watching some British TV. Courtney’s infectious energy and charisma impacted each person that crossed her path allowing her to build meaningful relationships with nearly everyone she encountered.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024 starting at 2 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. at Wrightsboro Baptist Church located at 2736 Castle Hayne Rd, Wilmington, NC 28401. A private interment will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
