ROCKY POINT — Mary Louise Rice, 87, of Rocky Point, NC, passed away on July 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born March 11, 1937, in Columbia, SC, the daughter of William and Bertha (Cashatt) Poe.
Mary was born on March 11, 1937 the daughter of the late William Elzavan Poe and Bertha Mae Cashatt Poe. Also preceding her in death were , children Jeffery Parnell and Cindy Schuck, brothers Richard Poe and Roy Poe and sister Mildred Strickland. Mary graduated from Olympia High School in 1955.
Remaining to cherish Mary’s memory are children, Billy Peeples (Lisa), Susan Hyde (Stuart Peterson), Libby Colson; grandchildren, Mindy Watts (Josh), Brandi Cromer (Brent), Justin Hyde (Keegan), Brad Schuck (Alayna), Lindsey Hyde, Summer Oxendine, Allyson Colson and Sebron Colson; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, sister Nancy Spires (Rusty), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary enjoyed crafts of all sorts, playing bingo, going to Cherokee to the casino and loved her Pender Senior Center activities and friends.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date in Gilbert, SC.
