WILMINGTON — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Helen Rackley Raynor, on June 17, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 83. After courageously fighting a long illness till the very end, she passed away surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Harold Raynor, and is survived by her five children, Cecil Rackley (Lauris), Cindy Smith (David), Cherie Mercer (Butch), David Raynor, Raymond Raynor (Alicia), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A very independent hard worker as a home healthcare provider, Helen worked her whole life, and was a no-nonsense type of gal. She kept a spotless house, raised her kids the old-fashioned way, and was a fabulous cook! After her retirement, she dedicated her time to taking care of her husband until his peaceful passing in 2016.
Helen took delight in the accomplishments of others and was a devout Christian who gave what she could to many charities in hopes of helping others. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed! May she eternally rest in peace.
