WILMINGTON — Our beloved mother and grandmother, Bertha Byrd, left her earthly body on April 30, 2024. She was 68 years old.
She was born on March 11, 1956 in Fayetteville, NC. At the age of 17 she met the love of her life, Bertice Byrd and started a family in Pender County, NC. She was a devoted wife and mother to her children Sabrina and Ray. She was known for her dedication to her family and friends.
She enjoyed life by inspiring young ladies as a youth softball coach, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren Hunter, Alex and Cheyenne.
With the support and love of her siblings; Tony, Henry, Glenn, Bruce and Connie, she developed a strong bond for family that led her to be a positive role model to so many. She was cherished by many and will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Service for Bertha will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
