WILMINGTON — Mrs. Nancy Allen Smith, fondly known as Tootie, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2024, in Wilmington, NC, her birthplace. Born on October 4, 1939, she lived a life filled with love and compassion, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.
Tootie dedicated herself to serving others, working as a Transporter in the Health Care industry. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Leland, NC, finding solace and community in her faith.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra Smith Wise of Bolton and Karen Smith Bullard of Riegelwood, along with her sisters, Ann Scott and Mary Butler, both of Leland. Tootie’s legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Michael Brandon Wise, Joseph Michael Sullivan, and Steven Allen Sullivan, as well as her great-grandson, Aaron Joseph Sullivan. She also leaves behind two special friends, Liz Pina and Terry Causey, and a cousin, Jo Ann Williams.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Paul Edward Allen, Sr. and Lucy Lee Child Allen, her sons Thomas Edward Smith and Jeffrey Alan Smith, and her brother Paul Edward Allen, Jr.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiated by Bishop Darren Shipman. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Tootie will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children Research, honoring Tootie’s compassionate spirit and caring nature.
Mrs. Nancy Allen Smith will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
