Jerry Cox Fennell, 82

ROCKY POINT — In loving memory of Jerry Cox Fennell, 82, who peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Born and raised in North Carolina the son of DeLon Fennell and Nola Gurganous Fenell.

Jerry grew up on a farm, he cherished the simple joys of rural life, so much so that in 1972 he began farming with his brother. With a heart full of adventure, he found solace in the serene moments spent fishing by the riverside and hunting in the great outdoors and being part of the Burch Creek Hunting Club. His zest for life led him on many journeys around the world, each trip was filled with wonder and discovery where he would bring back many memories and share them with all his family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his loving high school sweetheart of 64 years Bettie Crawford Fennell; daughters Lynne Fennell Silvia (J.R.), Janet Renee’ Fennell, Amy Fennell Javorsky (Kevin); five grandchildren, Kelly Farnham (Colby), Emily Lunsford (Richard), Brianne Berkowitz (Robert), Mack Silvia (Samantha), Lindsey Javorsky; greatgrandchildren, Taylor, Shelby, Sophia, Madison, Cameron, M.J., Javi; sisters, Judy Green (Key Han), Mary Ainsley; Brother Vernon Fennell (Cynthis) his cat, Ying-Punkin and many nieces and nephews as well as a very special nephew Jason Fennell.

He is predeceased by his brother Donald Fennell and his cousin Ronald Johnson.

His friendship was a beacon of light, and his guidance touched the lives of many. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his adventurous spirit and unwavering kindness.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Riley’s Creek Memorial Cemetery, Rocky Point, NC with Pastor Tommy Vincek officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
