William “Sonny” Henry Young III (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — William Henry Young lll, lovingly known as Sonny, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with his family by his side on March 25, 2024.

Sonny was born on March 9, 1965, in North Carolina to Patsy Coffey Young and William Henry Young Jr., both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his lovely wife, Fran G. Young and his son, Conrad William Young. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Annie Giacalone, sisters-in-law, Gina Turner (Jim), Rhonda Apke (Matt), Jan Kennedy (Andrew), Missy Young and brother-in-law Tom Kennedy.

He will be sadly missed by his nieces Whitley Stavish (Joseph), Emily Turner, Brianna Apke, and Olivia Kennedy; nephews Joshua Apke (Krystal), Kyle Young (Anna), Wesley Young (Jasmine), and Parker Young. Additionally, he is survived by his six great nephews.

Sonny was a beloved and dedicated husband and father who loved spending time with his family. In his younger years his love of the beach led him to become an avid surfer. His love for hunting and fishing led him to achieve his goal of Eagle Scout.

After receiving his degree with honors in Business at UNC-Wilmington he began his career in irrigation with Raynor’s Irrigation. He then became a dedicated employee of over 30 years at Simmon’s Irrigation Supply.

He was most proud of his son Conrad and known for passing on his skills of fishing to his nieces and nephews. He was loved by all who knew him for his pranks and great sense of humor.

Visitation will be at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 College Rd., on Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m. Followed by service at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated.
