SOUTHPORT — Gregory Elmer Garner, known affectionately as Greg, was born on December 10, 1956, in Southport, NC. He peacefully passed away on March 22, 2024, in Bolivia, NC, at the age of 67.
Greg had a fulfilling career as a Machinist at the Capital Power Plant in Southport, NC. Outside of work, his interests included being a Drag Racer, Fisherman, Mechanic, and Jack of all trades. He also enjoyed spending time shooting pool with his family. Greg was a proud member of the Oak Island Moose Lodge #2059.
Greg is preceded in death by his loving parents Wesley Elmer Garner and Grace Bowling Garner King, dear Sister Patricia Garner Sargent, Brother James L. Garner Sr., and Nephew Wesley “Stuart” Gescat, all from Southport, NC.
He is survived by his loving Nephew James L. Garner Jr. (Jimmy), Nephew Michael “Shane” Garner, Niece Kimberly Garner Pitts (Kim), Niece Jessica Reeves Davis (Jessie), Niece Jessica Garner Culp (Jammie Lynn) from Mississippi, Niece Rebecca Garner, Great Nephews Timothy Reeves, Bryson Garner, Evan Gescat, and Daryl Pitts, and Great Nieces Olivia Gescat, Haley Pitts, Katelyn Garner, and Meagan Garner Deas from Bolivia, NC. Greg had a special bond with his cousin, Debbie Brewer from Kentucky, and his Best Friend Joe Griffin from Bolivia, NC. He cherished all his family and friends, extending to great-great nieces and nephews.
Greg’s services and celebration of life will be announced at a later date. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
