WILMINGTON — Elizabeth Cheval “Val” Dempsey, 64, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on February 17, 2024, in Wilmington, NC. Born in Goldsboro, NC on August 19, 1959, she was a beloved free spirit who cherished a life untethered, finding joy in the beach and fishing. Family meant everything to her, being the heart and soul of her existence.
Val is survived by her long time partner Ben Horne, sister Debbie Dawson (Don), brother Sam Dempsey (Lori), sister Leigh Dempsey, granddaughter Skylar Sessoms, grandson Lukas Sessoms and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jamie Sessoms and mother Barbara Knowles.
At this time, the family will not be holding a service and will determine a celebration of life at a future date. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories of her vibrant spirit and love for life.
