Eleanor Moore Coleman, 100

WILMINGTON — Eleanor Moore Coleman, a dedicated nurse and beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2024, at the age of 100. Born on January 2, 1924, in Wilmington, NC, Eleanor lived a fulfilling life dedicated to helping others. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Throughout her career, Eleanor worked as a nurse at the former James Walker Hospital and later at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Her compassionate and caring nature touched the lives of countless patients and their families during their times of need. Additionally, she served as the former Co-Owner of Coleman Supply Company, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to supporting her community.

Eleanor was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was also a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her faith and commitment to service were evident in every aspect of her life. She found joy in connecting with others and supporting those around her.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, George Allie Moore, Sr. and Julia Biddle Moore, as well as her beloved husband, Charles McDaniel Coleman, who passed away on August 3, 1983. She is also mourned by her brothers, Allie and Robert Moore, and her sisters, Elizabeth Parlier and Mary Lou Mayer.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons, Charles “Chick” Coleman and his wife Teresa; Barry Moore Coleman, Sr. and his wife Paula; William “Billy” Coleman and his wife Donna; and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Coleman. She will also be dearly missed by her adoring grandchildren, Charlie, Rhett, Ellie, B.J, Ben, and Katie, as well as her great-grandchildren, Trey, Piper, and Cash.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Oleander Memorial Garden Mausoleum Chapel, where friends and family will gather at 1 p.m. to honor and remember Eleanor’s remarkable life. Her legacy of compassion and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Eleanor Moore Coleman.
